Talcott Teens in Transition

At The Talcott Center we understand that life skill development is crucial to fostering independence.  Talcott Teens in Transition is a unique group that focuses on both life skill and social skill development.  For children and adolescents these skills influence all aspects of their social development including peer and family relationships, behavior and even school performance.

Talcott Teens in Transition addresses social skills such as social interaction, decision making and basic problem solving as well as such life skills as hygiene, table manners, meal preparation, and safety.

Talcott Teens in Transition may benefit children of varying ages in which structured play and community based activities are tailored to the individual needs of each child.  Our groups maintain a low staff to student ratio to ensure appropriate modeling of behavior and immediate feedback.  At The Talcott Center we strive to promote generalization of learned social skills to alternate settings such as the classroom, playground, and home setting.  For this reason, we encourage parent consultation in order to help identify specific areas of concern.
