Class is in session this
fall as the Talcott Rockers prepare to take the stage! This dynamic
program incorporates language skills, social interactions, motor
coordination and multisensory experiences as we listen to, study,
create and play some good old rock and roll. As a group, the
Talcott Rockers will study the roots of and follow the progression
of rock and roll through the years. We will discuss and learn the
categories of music and instrumentation utilized through listening
labs, as well as study how rock has changed over the years in terms
of the way it sounds to the way we listen. Through group
collaboration and interaction, the Talcott Rockers will organize,
develop and create their own rock and roll hit.
As a group, the Talcott
Rockers will have hands on opportunities to explore a variety of
musical instruments, as well as build an instrument of their own to
take home. Rockers will take turns playing each instrument and
participate in an audition to determine the role they will play in
the group. We will experience group dynamics and discuss the
importance of sharing and accepting each other's role in the band.
The rockers will take part in movement workshops to strengthen and
develop hand skills, rhythm, timing and coordination so they can
show off their super star dance moves, while strumming, plucking and
drumming their way through their play list. In addition, we will
develop band paraphernalia, create concert posters, make and market
souvenirs.
Let's get ready to
ROCK!!! That's right, the Talcott Rockers will be winding down
their 12 weeks with a concert performance for parents and friends.
We'll take all of the skills we learned in the classroom to the
stage as we perform our own variations of songs from each era of
rock & roll that we study. Wait until you see us move, sing and
play in the greatest rock and roll performance of the year!
